Custom textural pieces add design and flow to a room. Macrame works can include greenery (air plants, moss, potted plants) and it can also light up with glow ropes. Moss works blend sculptural and natural elements while adding greenery without the maintenance of a live plant.
Gypsy Den Santa Ana projects included window treatments of macrame, glow ropes, beads and tassels. Signage above the bar and bathroom remodels to gender neutral Sun and Moon rooms.
Gypsy Den an establishmed in 1994 was in need of refreshing their look. They had a bohemian flair and I fell in love with repurposing their existing artwork and adding over 50 pieces to create a focal wall of vintage art combined with oddities, curiosities and esoteric inspired pieces. I not only made my own pieces but I also commissioned art from other artists. I had a tarot card pulled for this restaurant and then had that card made into a needle point wall hanging. I found a miniature gypsy wagon at a flea market and customized it. I added macrame, taxidermy, faux succulents and lights. I repainted the dark green walls to white to modernize the cafe but increased the art so it could stay the weird artist nook thats its been for decades.
Dsrt Haus is a revamped jack rabbit cabin with a view of Joshua Tree National Park. I designed a couple custom murals in a simple geometric motif. I added a hanging macrame panel as a room divider and macrame door curtains.
Center Street Tavern was a chic local pub that had dark slate colored walls so I added thin metallic gold line work both painted and in metallic string to catch the light. The tavern hosted live music so I painted a David Bowie mural as a backdrop for the bands.
I was excited to be included in the amazing artist roster for Summer of Color, a mural project in Laguna Canyon during the summer of 2018. I collaborated with Sara Hasse on this project.
